If anyone is sick and goes to the doctor, then is prescribed a medication, they come with all kinds of warnings. ‘This could do this or that, don’t mix with other medications’, etc. Every action has a cause or starting point. Everything has consequences.
The consequences are sometime not of our own choices. My getting bit by a tick and contracting Lymes, was never on my horizon. I don’t hunt or hike in the woods, but I do like to play in the garden and dig in the dirt for therapy, so I made myself susceptible and available to the little bug.
I am always researching how to help Rick get better and how to help myself get better. There is a lot of information available, with friends in the medical field, online and even trial and error. How can I give Rick an anti-histamine that won’t jack up his blood pressure? How do I get my clear mind and strength back? Well, trial and error sometimes, but making sure that whatever we do, we use wisdom.
Our spiritual life is very much the same. We look first to those who have the spiritual knowledge and expertise that we need. Then we search the scripture and apply it to our everyday life. BUT here is difference…the scripture will not cause a detrimental reaction. God’s Word is pure truth and healing for our souls. If we sow to our spirit man pure words of encouragement, correction, direction and healing, we will reap those consequences as well.
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived. God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not give up.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 meekness, and self-control; against such there is no law.
