Feeling a bit exhilarated from the mornings activities. Pushed myself and then pushed Rick a bit. Pushing back at the discomfort and the lethargy that comes with extended discomfort and disability. We had a walk outside, Rick walked and I pulled weeds. It’s still quite pleasant weather for Florida, at least this morning it was. May warms right up to summer heat here. After making a broccoli/cauliflower soup and a tomato soup it dawned on me that I could make lasagna for Rick. Tomato soup, beef gravy, left over Alfredo sauce, ramen noodles and some black olives. Went in the blender and tastes pretty good.
Pressing always to the end that he will continue to swallow better each day and soon have the PEG tube removed from his tummy. Pressing always on the exercises to gain strength and stamina. Pressing always. Pressure is giving resistance to the outside and interior pressures that can and do keep us from being where we should be in our physical, mental and most of all our spiritual life.
Paul says in Philippians 3:14 “ I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.”
God isn’t finished with us yet. Elijah was whining in hiding because he was afraid of Jezebel. God said, “WHAT? are you doing?” Elijah had just witnessed the power of God in a significant victory over 450 priests of Baal and now he was scared and beaten down. God pressed him, scolded him and told him what to do next. It was not an easy journey and most of our obedient journeys in following Jesus are not what we would have imagined for our lives, but HE leads on, HE presses us into a vessel worthy of His presence, His calling, His divine will. Be good soft pliable clay, dear vessel, of God’s presence in this world.
Press into God, He will reveal His will when we are close enough to hear and obey.
