Inspire envy?

This evening I grabbed a piece of Vitamin C that I keep on hand for defense from colds and flu. It had a wrapper that had several sayings on it, meant to be encouraging. They were…’Turn can’t into can do’, ‘Don’t wait to get started’, ‘Conquer today’, ‘Push on’, and ‘Inspire Envy’. Boy that grabbed me! That is not what I want to do as a Christian. Inspire someone to rot, be foolish, sin, be hateful, proud and lose their life.

Full Definition of Envy 1-painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage(another word for ‘covet’ Exodus 20:17)

Proverbs 14:30 A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.          1 Corinthians 13:4  Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant  Titus 3:3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.                                                                                                                                    Job 5:2 For anger kills the foolish man, and envy slays the silly one.

1 Peter 2:1 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful, 24  and let us consider how to stir up (inspire) one another to love and good works,

We should by our lives and our words ‘inspire’ to good works and godly behavior. Praying for one another that we will come up higher in our faith, grow up in the the Lord and bring others to the knowledge of Christ through our witness.
