If you see my stuff on facebook, you will be aware that I love my plants. Right now I have avocados, limes and magnificent pineapples. I learned about keeping my plants producing by reading the BIBLE!
John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer. 2 Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. 5 I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered;
They are pruned close and tight, and any branch or twig that is either growing out of proportion to the tree or is a ‘stick’ gets trimmed immediately. It you trim out the dead wood and the errant growth, the tree in the sends it’s nutrients to the fruit, not just to the leaves. The farmer, vine dresser, grove keeper must watch for foreign subjects that would destroy the plant, just as Jesus gives us a heads up on things we must avoid in this life.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
We do not want to grow like the world, willy-nilly and with no purpose. We want to produce the good fruit of the Gospel, life everlasting and joy forevermore in His presence. How are we growing today? Let us cut out the stuff that is not essential to good fruit!
