Walking in fire

“The fiery furnaces are here by God’s direct permission. It is misleading to imagine that we are developed in spite of our circumstances; we are developed because of them. It is mastery in circumstances that is needed, not mastery over them.”

I posted this quote from Oswald Chambers today.  It seems like only 2 people thought it might be true and accurate.  My next book is in the process and the title is “Listening Still…in the Circumstances”.  Having lived for almost 66 years, one thing is for sure, we will have circumstances.  Good ones and bad ones, short and lengthy.  God uses everything He can to get our attention. He doesn’t cause the circumstances, but allows them, not because He’s mean and doesn’t love us, but because He does love us and is merciful and kind. It is His goal for us to come into ‘relationship’ with Him.  I love Henry Blackaby’s devotional, ‘Experiencing God Day by Day’ because he teaches and encourages us to return to intimate relationship with our Maker.  God lost friends the day Adam and Eve chose to do life according to their own judgement.  Ever since He has been wooing us.  God has had few friends, but He loves us.  Our circumstances are allowed so we might make an attempt at restoring fellowship Him.

Not everyone will agree with me and it’s okay. I want to be in an intimate relationship with my Maker and Savior, so no matter what happens each day, I seek His face and His wisdom. I ‘listen’ and work at obeying, because it is not in my natural being. It is a decision I must make every day, moment by moment.
