Psalm 80:3 Turn us again, O God, and cause Thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
We are always getting ourselves into trouble. It is our natural man, the flesh that rules our being. Israel couldn’t get it right and neither can we. Unless, we begin and continue to listen to His voice and obey.
A child can, in a heartbeat, tell if the parent is displeased with them, by the look on the parent’s face. Psalm 80 tells us that God was displeased with the behavior of His people and His face was not shining on them.
A few months ago, a dear friend walked into their child’s room with a camera. The child had been playing for sometime, but had made a huge mess. He had turned over every box, tipped over shelves and every inch of the floor was covered. When she stepped into the doorway, she took a short video with her phone. This child was a little more than a year old. As she came into his view, he turned toward her and said in a very audible voice, “uh oh!” Now, I burst into laughter when I heard it, but the Lord said to me, just as audible to me in that moment…”How, often have you said that to Me?” It is not funny, when God calls you out.
The Psalm says God is doing all this stuff, but what He has done is backed off and let us run on our own. We got caught and are saying “uh oh.” I pray to look for the “shine of God’s face.”
