1 Corinthians 5:9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother or sister be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, (railer-someone who scoffs, insults another) or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
We cannot expect that sinners will behave. We are not of this world, we just happen to be here until Jesus comes, doing His will for His purpose while it is yet day…we keep working for the Kingdom…Those who are among us, must behave in holy and godly manner. They can’t be ‘sleeping around’, coveting all the stuff they don’t have, cheating, stealing, lying, gossiping, manipulating, and placing value on temporal things more than spiritual.
I have trouble calling this one because there are Christians who will not be judged even if the correction is given in the kindest of manner. If I am out of order, CALL ME DOWN! I want to do what is right in the sight of God and man, so that my witness of the Gospel is clear and defined by my behavior toward others. Paul here seems harsh, but the matter is serious and sometimes someone has to say,”BEHAVE YOURSELF! DON’T BE WICKED!” Don’t be like the world.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judges. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
